Plus, Osso Barko and Chicken Noodle Soup recipes for you
Because there are so many great people online and in our comments, reading and responding to them is a lot of fun. Thanks to all of you who engage in the comment section. We try to respond to as many as we can.
But as always, there are a few trolls on every video. We’ve learned not to take them seriously, but some are just so good that we have to share. Before that here are our most recent recipes for you to try at home!
Chicken Noodle Soup
Springtime is still chilly, and this chicken noodle soup is a light way to warm your pup’s belly and soul as the seasons change. This recipe uses a Cornish Hen, which is a type of small chicken!
Osso Barko
This dish is inspired by the Italian dish Ossobuco, traditionally made with veal shanks. Cedric especially LOVES these slow-cooked, beefy stews (oxtail is another favorite of his). This dish is a show stopper and will definitely impress your dog and human guests.
Genuine hate…for what?
Whether this gentleman genuinely hates us or the dogs, it’s genuinely funny. Why someone would hate a total stranger or their dogs is beyond us! My guess is that this chap probably just has a strange sense of humor…
But since we do often get hate mail, this is probably a good time to share that we are just people who love to make food.
We make food for ourselves, our friends and family. We LOVE to eat. We just happen to be known for making food for the pups because we share it on social media. Our goal is to show people that dogs can and should eat real foods.
Since you guys like what we do, we keep doing it. We also try our best to make it better, more interesting and more entertaining all the time. So we are constantly trying new things. Not all of them work. Sometimes we use fancy foods that look extravagant, but we don’t usually spend a lot of money on their meals. And we definitely aren’t trying to show off, after all, we only do this because of your support. This whole thing is an homage to you all…that’s it. So THANK YOU!
The “vet” who can’t read
As we always say, vets do great work. They are trained to care for so many different species with different needs, it’s a wonder how they can retain so much knowledge. We really appreciate everything that they do. From lifesaving procedures to prescribing needed medicines, vets help us to care for our beloved animals. Because of all of the things they have to do, however, having extensive nutrition knowledge for any animal, let alone dogs, is not required for them to become a vet. There’s just too much to learn.
As with any profession, there are good and bad apples. The first genius of this week is a “vet” who possibly only plays one on the internet. In her professional opinion, dogs should not eat oranges or bread. But she can’t read that it’s pup bread, made with just eggs and oat flour. Also, she hasn’t read any studies, because there’s no credible research to show that citrus fruits are bad for dogs. In fact, one controlled study actually showed that grapefruit extract can lower dog blood pressure.
There are vitamins in food?
No disrespect at all to this viewer. We are all learning, but the education system, food industry, and pet food manufacturers have really failed us when it comes to nutrition. There is so much misinformation and confusion.
This comment reveals a strange but common sentiment shared by many people, that dogs cannot get enough nutrients from “human” or real food alone. This is despite every other animal on the planet being able to live only on things that grow on earth.
Of course there are nutrients dogs may need more of than people, like copper and zinc. There are also things that dogs need less of, like table salt and vitamin C. Ultimately, good food is good food. For example, eggs are one of the most nutrient dense foods. They have a great nutrient balance for dogs and are a nutrient bomb for them (and us). Dogs really can get everything they need from only real food…just like every other creature on earth!
You share plates with your dogs? Gross!
While our dogs actually have their own dishes, some overlap happens with our items. Luckily we have this wonderful thing called soap that takes care of residual food and germs—both dog germs and people germs (which, let’s be real, can be even worse).
We also love our dishwasher, that sanitizes everything at high heat so that our dishes come out piping hot and sparkly clean.
If this viewer is worried about cleanliness, I’d suggest they not eat at any restaurants either… In our opinion, the dishes we wash ourselves and the food we make at home are MUCH cleaner!
That’s all for this week. May your weekend be filled with dog cuddles!
All the best,
Joelle and The Precious Creatures Team
Love This! Ignore the hateee!
