Your pups will love this pupza. You can feel good about them eating it knowing that it’s all good stuff—even the crust! With just egg and a touch of coconut flour, this crust is low carb, protein and fiber packed.
Ingredients
To make one small crust (simply double or triple to make more):
1 egg, separate the white and yolk (you can also use just egg white)
2 teaspoons (10g) coconut flour
Sauce:
Cubed sweet potato, a small handful
Cubed beetroot, small handful
1-2 teaspoons (5-10ml) water
Topping ideas (choose any/as many as you like):
Dog treats (freeze dried meat, organs, etc)
Beef, pork, lamb, chicken
Organ meats
Canned sardines (in water, no salt)
Mushrooms (store bought mushrooms, not wild)
Pineapple??? :)
Mozzarella cheese
Goat cheese
Basil
Spinach
Bell peppers
Directions
Crust:
Preheat oven to 325F (160C). Line a baking tray with baking paper.
Whip up the egg white until stiff peaks form. This means the egg becomes thick, shiny, and when you remove the whisk a “peak” is left behind and stands up on its own.
Using a spatula, gently fold in the egg yolk and coconut flour.
Scoop some of the mixture onto baking tray and use a spoon to shape it into a circle. Add more to the edges (piping works well here) to form a raised crust. TRUST THE PROCESS! It looks like mashed potatoes right now, but it will work out.
Bake for about 20 minutes until it’s set.
Sauce:
Boil/steam sweet potato and beet until soft. Blend or mash together with small splashes of water until you reach your desired sauce consistency.
Make the pizza:
Prepare your toppings by first cooking anything that needs to be cooked. E.g. the meat, organ meats, mushrooms.
Spread on a layer of sauce and add your toppings!
Optional: Broil in your oven (high heat) for 3 minutes to melt the cheese.
