Hey guys! You might be wondering why we’ve been M.I.A. We recently moved and decided to upgrade our studio. Almost 2 years of creating content means we’ve accumulated a lot of random props and equipment for Thecedlife. Reorganizing and packing was a pretty big task, let alone the move.
This is why we’ve had a long gap in posts, videos and recipes. But the good news is that our updates and changes should improve the quality of our content. We are always trying to up our game to serve you better. Before we show you our new set and some more sneak peaks of our book, here are some past recipes you might have missed.
Chow Mein & KikkoDOG Sauce!
A good chow mein hits the spot like nothing else. A gigantic bowl of starchy noodles is a rare treat for myself, and the glucose induced food coma that comes after isn’t something I want to inflict on the pups, so these pure egg “noodles” are a quick and protein packed replacement. They’re perfect for your pup, who will still thoroughly enjoy their meal…
Kitchen Exclusive - Fully Balanced Chicken Pup Pie
This chicken pup pie was SO good, and I know this because I tasted it! The eggshells were a little unpleasant to crunch on for me (lol), but the flavor was great. It always surprises me how much wonderful natural flavor there is in food even without any salt added.
Fisherpup's Pie
I recently saw this amazing fisherman’s pie recipe on Instagram and was inspired to make the seafood packed dish for the dogs! They LOVE their sardines, and I love giving them an extra fishy meal every now and then for all the great nutrients. It’s packed with flavor too— don’t ask me how I know that.
We updated our set!
Since we started making content (and because the dogs are so tiny) Joelle has been filming on the floor. Early last year we set up a dedicated studio, but it was still on the floor. This made prep, clean up, and filming like an extreme sport.
So for our updated studio, we built a full stage to elevate their set to counter height. No more squatting! (Yay!) Here’s a behind-the-scenes view.
Book update: Sharing a few endorsements for The Dog’s Table!
A big thank you to all of you who already pre-ordered. You helped us to hit #1 in the pet category the first week of presales — 7 months out from publication date! We put everything we had into this book and so far the response from top vets and researchers is incredible.
We received an endorsement from Dr. Will Maginness, an awesome vet and content creator, too. Go check him out on Instagram (@drwillmaginness). Dr. Matt Kaeberlein, Co-director of the Dog Aging Project has also endorsed The Dog’s Table. Here’s what they had to say.
"As a veterinarian committed to helping dogs live longer, I’m thrilled to see The Dog’s Table boldly challenge the outdated norms of pet feeding. This book is clear, practical and deeply researched - reminding us that dogs deserve more than ultra-processed convenience. The philosophy aligns powerfully with what I advocate every day: fresh, whole foods, nutrient diversity and feeding without fear. It’s a much-needed resource that empowers dog parents with both knowledge and joy.”
— Dr. Will Maginness, Veterinarian and Farmer
“The Dog’s Table is a fun science-backed resource for anyone looking to improve their dog’s nutrition and health through real food. Joelle Jay and R.A. Young have done an exceptional job combining evidence-based insights with practical, easy-to-follow recipes that support canine health at every life stage.
I appreciate how this book challenges outdated pet food norms and instead promotes whole-food nutrition, a key factor in both human and canine health. The authors skillfully debunk myths surrounding dog diets while providing a balanced, accessible approach to home-prepared meals.
The Dog’s Table is not just a cookbook, it’s a movement toward better nutrition, better health, and ultimately, better lives for our four-legged companions.”
— Matt Kaeberlein, PhD, Biologist and Co-director of The Dog Aging Project
Lastly…you might see us at Wienerfest!?
We haven’t announced it yet so you’re the first to know. This year we will be heading out to So Cal for the annual Wienerfest where Cedric can be united with his extended family (thousands of wieners). It will be our first ever event and we are very excited. If any of you are in the neighborhood, we are planning a special culinary adventure for attendees. Hope to see you there!
That’s all for this week. We’ll shortly resume our regularly scheduled content…
All the best,
Joelle and The Precious Creatures Team
