Small, senior and less active dogs will enjoy this meatloaf since it’s soft and lower in fat than other recipes. If your dog is very active you can reduce the amount of quinoa for even more energy density.
This meatloaf was Edith’s first meal after we got her from the shelter. I was planning on slowly transitioning her to our food. But after taking one look at the shelter kibble…I couldn’t help but toss it in the trash. Oops. TMI, but not only did this immediate switch not cause any digestive issues, her poop instantly went from giant piles of pale, foamy mush to something smaller, denser and easy to pick up.
This meal is not 100% balanced per AAFCO guidelines. But like we’ve said, that only matters if you feed your dog the same thing everyday. You can see in the estimated nutritional content this recipe is a little short on zinc and just a tiny but under for vitamin E. But in our opinion is so close to balance that we would be totally ok feeding this everyday. (not medical advice :)
