2024 was incredible. Thecedlife grew by over 1,000,000 new followers across our channels, while this newsletter went from three thousand subscribers to over 16,000.
We want to sincerely thank you for all of the support. Sharing this mission together is really cool. You are the reason we even exist and have the opportunity to do this.
For our last newsletter of the year we wanted to curate our most popular recipes and favorite posts from the last year. Also, to end the year we have the most extreme “geniuses” yet:
Shooting the messenger
There’s definitely no need to be so angry. It’s just social media, lol!
If the food our dogs eat is considered sh*t, then what would you call kibble?
Of course we don’t feed extravagant meals like Bark Wellington and Sticky Pawffee Pudding everyday. Yet, the ingredients used to make them are still great for dogs!
Though it’s not always apparent, our goal is to show the world that dogs can eat wonderful, fresh foods. Not only do they enjoy it, it’s really good for them too.
It can be easy to miss this message, especially if you’ve been told kibble is the only healthy option, but hopefully more and more people come to realize the truth.
Poison for dogs
We feel sorry for the dogs eating kibble, including the dogs from our past when we didn’t know any better. They lived good lives with lots of love, but suffered early disease and painful conditions. Tooth decay, blindness and dementia were exacerbated, if not caused by a diet of processed food. They could have had a much better quality of life on real food. Unfortunately, we can’t change the past. All we can do now is help others to avoid the same regret.
If you want to make your dog a nourishing homemade meal, here’s our most loved recipes from 2024 to inspire you this coming year.

Since we published our thoughts on raw diets a number of recalls of raw food brands occurred. Because of this, some raw food proponents have recently changed their stance on feeding raw foods. To us, feeding (or eating) exclusively raw is like using a manual typewriter instead of a computer. It might be fun to try as a novelty, but relying on raw food for sustenance is like using outdated technology for work. It just doesn’t make sense because the modern world (and your pup’s tummy) isn’t designed for it.
Food allergies and sensitivities in dogs is a difficult subject because it involves a bit of biology. Many people get the two confused and it’s even difficult for experts to definitively diagnose food allergies. Allergies are thought to be less common than most people believe, but there is little consensus on the actual incidence.
In this post we also discussed scientific evidence and how to interpret studies of different kids. Just because one study says something doesn’t mean that it’s true. There is a problem with how reliable much of the scientific literature is these days. As consumers we have to understand what kind of studies are most reliable and what it means.
In short, randomized controlled studies are the most reliable, but they are hard to conduct on anything outside of a pill. Studies on diet are usually done through observational studies which are prone to bias.
Arming ourselves with knowledge and staying skeptical is the only way to protect ourselves from those who use “science” to manipulate others.
That’s all for this year. Looking forward to many more together!
All the best,
Joelle & the Precious Creatures Team
