This hearty porridge cooking away on the stove is a balm to these early chilly days of winter.
Though you cool food down before serving to your pups, this meal will still warm their bellies and keep them nourished in the colder months ahead.
Pumpkin is great for dogs. It’s high in soluble fiber, vitamins and mineral while being moderate in carbs. If you use canned pumpkin for this recipe its extra simple.
Makes about 1700 calories per batch
1 pound (454 g) 90% lean ground beef
1 cup (250 ml) of water
1 can (400 g) pumpkin puree or 1 1/2 cups cooked pumpkin
1/2 cup (45 g) rolled oats or quinoa
1/4 cup (30 g) wheat germ
1 tbsp (8 g) All-Pups Seasoning
2 tbsp (30 g) extra virgin olive oil
In a 4 quart pot, lightly brown the ground beef.
Add in water, pumpkin puree, rolled oats, and wheat germ.
Simmer for around 8-10 minutes until oats are done (15-18 minutes for quinoa).
Add more or less water depending on how soupy you’d like it for your pup.
Sprinkle in the All-Pups Seasoning and stir
Then remove from heat and cool.
Once cooled, stir in olive oil and serve.
Store extra portions in the fridge or freezer for later.
