The jiggling bone broth is not only fun to look at, it’s nutritious too. It’s a great source of collagen and protein.
Though it’s time consuming, it’s mostly a waiting game and actually very easy to make.
You’ll need:
3 lbs of meaty bones (for better flavor, use a combo of bones and meat)
Optional: 1-2 carrots, 1-2 celery stalks, 1-2 slices ginger, handful of mushrooms (no need to chop)
5.5 qt stew pot or larger with lid
For chicken broth: chicken feet, drumsticks, a stewing hen, or chicken carcass
For turkey broth: a turkey carcass, turkey legs, turkey feet
For beef broth: grass fed beef bones, beef marrow bones, beef ribs
For pork broth: pork bones, pork knuckle, ribs
How to:
Add the meat and bones to your pot. Fill with water, completely covering the bones.
An optional step for a cleaner broth:
Bring to a boil and let boil for 5 minutes.
Turn off heat. Carefully pour out the water and rinse the pot and bones, removing all scum.
Refill the pot with water and bring to a boil again.
If using, add in vegetables. Simmer on low for 8-12 hours, with the lid on. Check the water levels often. If the water is too low, exposing a good amount of bone, add a little more.
Strain the broth to remove all bones and fragments.
Portion into containers and refrigerate or freeze immediately.
Hi, it’s me again.. I've read that bone broth has very high levels of phosphorus and some sites says it's marginal. Can you tell me please what is your knowledge about it and could you tell me a verified source where I could read more about it? I would be very grateful for any kind of help from your site ❤️
